Welcome to Municipal Committee Farrukhnagar

About Us

Farukhnagar, earlier known as Shehzadpur, is a historic town located in the Gurugram district of Haryana. Since ancient and medieval times, the town has held social, political, and economic importance due to its strategic location and role as a regional trade center during the Mughal period.

Farukhnagar is well known for its rich historical heritage. The town was established in the 18th century by Faujdar Khan, a Mughal governor. Historical structures such as Farukhnagar Fort (Qila Farukhnagar), Sheesh Mahal, and the Jama Masjid stand as evidence of its architectural and cultural significance.

From a cultural and religious perspective, Farukhnagar has been home to several temples and religious places that have served as centers of faith and community life for generations. These sites continue to attract local residents for worship and social gatherings.

In ancient times, Farukhnagar was surrounded by fortified structures and gateways, reflecting its importance as a protected town and trading hub. The remnants of these structures highlight the town’s historical role in administration and defense.

From a political and administrative point of view, Farukhnagar gained importance under Mughal rule and later during British administration. Economically, the town has traditionally been strong due to its grain market, which played a significant role in agricultural trade and contributed to the prosperity of the surrounding rural areas.

The Municipal Committee, Farukhnagar (MC Farukhnagar) was established to manage civic administration and urban development. The municipal area is divided into several wards to ensure proper governance and effective delivery of public services to residents.

According to the 2011 Census, the population under the Municipal Committee, Farukhnagar, reflects a growing semi-urban character. The wards include reserved constituencies for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and Women, in accordance with government reservation policies.

Farukhnagar is well connected by road to Gurugram and nearby towns, enhancing its accessibility and economic potential. In the field of education, the town has government and private schools, and nearby higher-education institutions cater to college-level and technical education needs.

Today, Farukhnagar is steadily developing while preserving its historical identity, and its proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR) makes it increasingly important from a developmental and economic perspective.
